There is something that escapes the literalness of the scientific gaze, which continues to remain invisible to the incredible capacity of its methods and instruments. There is something that is not easily computable from the overwhelming power of the data. That “something” belongs to the poetic gaze, and it is only revealed under its light. But right or not –that doesn’t matter now– an inclusive interpretation of the world existed for a long time, where scientific models were explained hand in hand with mystics and poets.
Loosely based on the vision of Paradise from Dante’s Divine Comedy, Report on the Empyrean addresses an aesthetic meeting point between simulation of generative visuals and mysticism. Technical ingredients: a particle system under vector field forces and turbulences, a chained spread of geometrical structures and a theatrical light. Sound of Penderecki and granular synthesis.
